Frequently Asked
Questions

Should we hire someone to install our repeater system?

That all depends on your abilities. If you can run a wire or climb a ladder, chances are very good that you can do this yourself. If you are uncomfortable installing the system, there is sure to be someone handy that could do it for you. No prior experience is necessary. Some examples of likely candidates to install the system are: Network Technicians, Maintenance Crews, Electrical Contractors, Handymen (or women), etc. All of our systems come with complete, easy-to-follow instructions. Using a communications company to install a repeater system can be REALLY expensive. Our systems were designed with the do-it-yourselfer in mind. We also can provide you (or your designated installer) with free support via our toll free telephone number 1(800) 238-2811 or email if your prefer.

Does the DA Series (Dual Band) repeater help with Nextel?

No, in order to improve Nextel signals you will need to use either the NXRPTS or the SRNXRPTS systems

Can I get longer cables and will they negatively affect the system's performance?

Yes, we can provide longer cables at an additional cost. The longer the cable, the more signal loss you will have between the antenna and BDA. Larger (thicker) cables must be used to minimize loss for the desired length and frequency being used. Longer and thicker cables can get VERY expensive. Try to plan your system carefully to avoid having to purchase longer cables than absolutely necessary. Please call or email us to discuss available (and feasible) cable lengths and their costs. You can also check here for some of the cables we have available.

We have the occassional electrical storm in our area, should I protect my system?

If you believe there is any chance that your Donor antenna could receive a lightning strike, the answer is YES! Otherwise you can choose to take your chances and risk destroying your repeater system. You can find lightning protection here. Please note: lightning damage is not covered under warranty.

Can more than one system of the same frequency be installed in a building?

Yes. If you have an area larger than the system is designed for, multiple systems can be installed. There are special considerations to adhere to so please give us a call if you want to do this. Note, it turns out to be far less expensive to install several, independent systems rather than creating a larger system with a much larger BDA.

Can more than one system of a different frequency be installed in a building?

Yes. If you want to install all three frequency systems in your building it is commonly done. Please call us to discuss details of your installation so we can make sure your systems will perform at their potential.
